How Much Does a Garage Door Cost, Installed?

Most homeowners pay between $1,450 and $3,100 installed, depending on size, insulation, and add-ons. These ranges are pulled directly from our real door and labor pricing — every quote we give is an exact price for your specific door, not an estimate range, based on your zip code and configuration.

Typical installed price by door type

Prices below are for our Traditional style — the standard, most popular entry-level steel door — pulled directly from our current door and labor pricing. Other styles (carriage, modern) are priced differently in the wizard.

Door typeInstalled price
Single door, Traditional, non-insulated (Pro Tech 2500)$1,450 – $2,000
Single door, Traditional, insulated (Therma Tech 3400)$1,750 – $2,200
Double door, Traditional, non-insulated (Pro Tech 2500)$2,350 – $2,850
Double door, Traditional, insulated (Therma Tech 3400)$2,550 – $3,100

Installed price includes the door and labor; the range reflects normal variation in labor cost by zip code within our service area. Old door haul-away is a separate add-on ($95 single / $135 double) — not included by default. Windows, smart openers, and custom hardware are priced separately in the wizard.

What actually drives the price

Size

Single doors (8-10 ft wide) cost less than double doors (16-18 ft wide) simply due to material and labor. Height matters too — 8 ft tall doors cost more than standard 7 ft.

Style

Traditional steel doors (like our Pro Tech 2500 and Therma Tech 3400, shown below) are our most popular, entry-level style. Carriage-style, modern, and other premium styles cost more — the wizard will show you the exact difference for your home.

Insulation

Insulated doors (higher R-value) cost more upfront but perform better in Pacific Northwest winters — worth it if your garage is attached to living space.

Add-ons

Windows, smart openers, upgraded hardware, and custom color all add to the base price. Old door haul-away is a separate add-on ($95 for a single door, $135 for a double), not included by default.

Labor & location

Labor is priced separately from the door itself and varies by zip code and door width — wider, heavier doors take more install time and more hands.

Why quotes vary between companies

Many installers quote a wide range up front, then reveal the real number only after an in-home visit. Our wizard prices your exact configuration — brand, size, insulation, and add-ons — before you schedule anything, so the number you see is the number you pay (deposit collected in person, no online payment required).
